Percy’s Story

Meet Percy – bark – bark and Thank YOU to those who donated to GiveBig!

Uncut Percy

Uncut Percy

I’m Percy, a 3 year old male, miniature poodle mix. I was a lost doggie in an Eastern Washington animal shelter. Because they were out of space and I was at risk for euthanasia, my new friends at AVHS took me in and gave me some special care. Look at my before and after pictures. I had matted fur. After getting a bath and new haircut, I felt so much better. I was quickly adopted 9 days later. Now I’m in my new home and love playing with toys.  I enjoy going on walks to explore my new neighborhood.  I recently had a vet checkup and the doctor said I look very healthy and happy.  I’m now living in my “fur”ever home, thanks to caring folks like YOU.

Happy - Looking Good!

Happy – Looking Good!

On May 10, 2017, the Auburn Valley Humane Society participated in Seattle Foundation’s GiveBIG – a one-day online giving event to raise funds for nonprofit organizations serving Greater Seattle.

For 5 years, AVHS has been working tirelessly to provide food, shelter and medical care for every animal that comes through our doors. YOUR support is key to helping us to continue to improve the lives of thousands of homeless animals each year.
Our goal is to raise $5,100 which will feed, spay or neuter, vaccinate and microchip 53 animals.  At AVHS, we provide our animals with a veterinary exam, vaccinations, spay/neuter services, microchip, and in some cases, extensive medical and dental care prior to adoption to a loving family.  Many thanks to the donors who helped raise $6,135 and surpass our goal in 2017.
Our live release rate is 98%. Best of all, NO adoptable animals have been euthanized since we opened in 2013.
AVHS reunites 56.38% of dogs and 4.09% of cats with their owners.  The national average is 15.8% for dogs and 2% for cats. *(American Humane stats)

Thank you to our donors who helped us exceed our goal!  We appreciate your kindness and continued support as we enrich the lives of companion animals and people through animal sheltering, services, programs and community engagement.

We invite you to stop by and visit us during our open hours.
