New Artwork presented to AVHS

Iris Rogel's exquisite artwork was mounted on the wall facing the AVHS Animal Shelter customer's parking lot in mid-February. It depicts cats and dogs in front of a background of Mount Rainier and the Seattle skyline, including the Space Needle. Displayed at the top are adoption statistics for 2022.

Iris Rogel, a current AVHS volunteer and a Bonney Lake High School senior,  came to AVHS with an idea for a school project. She wanted to create a mural to help increase adoption rates at the shelter. With reflective mirror aspects, she depicted domestic animals usually available for adoption.

The mural idea brings awareness to the amazing difference people make in animals' lives. It also celebrates AVHS's past year's success and promotes future adoptions. A QR code survey by the mural allows people to participate. Iris will track adoption rates four weeks before the mural's installation and four weeks after as part of her school project. No matter the outcome, AVHS is exceptionally grateful for all the hard work Iris put into her beautiful work of art. Please visit the shelter to view our adoptable animals and view our new artwork.
