We welcome walk-in visitors for cats and dogs daily from 11 am to 6 pm (except on posted holidays).
To maintain everyone’s health and safety, please do not enter the building if you are experiencing symptoms or feel sick.
What to expect
- Please use hand sanitizer before entering and visiting the cats or dogs!
- Masks are not required, but you may wear a mask in our building.
- Check out our website for our amazing adoptable animals! Our website updates every 6 minutes so new adoptable animals will appear. Please keep checking back!
- Let the front desk know if you see a dog you wish to meet in the adoption room. Meet-and-greets with dogs are subject to staff availability. Depending on how busy it is, you may need to wait or be scheduled for a later time.

You can visit the cats and dogs in person at the AVHS shelter or browse our adoptable animals on our website.

We’re committed to finding you the perfect pet match. If things do not work as planned, adopters have 30 days to return the pet by simply calling Auburn Valley Humane Society to make a return appointment. Adopters will then be issued an adoption credit for a future adoption that fits their family and lifestyle.

- “Free Wellness Exam Certificate” at a participating veterinary clinic. This certificate is valid within the first 10 days after adoption.
- All cats and dogs adopted from AVHS are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and provided with initial vaccinations and parasite prevention.

If you need to return your adopted animal for any reason, you can do so within 30 days of adoption. To schedule a return appointment, call our front desk staff at 253-249-7849, option 1. - 10% off any purchase you make at our shelter’s retail center on the day of your adoption.
