March Muttness Round 1 going on Now
Auburn Valley Humane Society is participating in March Muttness 2026, a nationwide virtual fundraising tournament that brings animal shelters together in a friendly, bracket-style competition to raise critical funds for pets in need.
Hosted by the Humane Society of Southern Arizona, the tournament runs throughout March, giving shelters like ours the chance to rally support for the animals in our care. Each week, shelters from across the country compete head-to-head, advancing based on community donations.
The online donation page for the Round 1 opens March 5, at 8am PST. This donation window ends on March 7, at 8:00pm PST! Donations made during this time frame help us advance to the next round!
We need your support to help us reach the Top 16 during Round 1. Every gift helps animals in our care and moves us closer to Round 2.

Auburn Valley Humane Society is much more than just “the pound”. It’s a community education center where pets and people can come together. Additionally, AVHS has created sustainable employment, offers countless volunteer opportunities and offers valuable educational experiences for those considering a career working with animals.
AVHS will primarily support the Auburn community but that doesn’t mean we will turn a cold shoulder to our neighboring colleagues. We are all in this together, caring for pets in need. It is AVHS’s goal to continue to foster a network of regional communication and collaboration among neighboring shelters, rescue groups and foster homes. We will all work together in the best interest of the pet.
