Betty’s Story
It all started when…
Betty was found wandering the busy streets. A good Samaritan brought her to Auburn Valley Humane Society. She was older and had a bladder issue which was treated while in foster care. She just needed a safe haven and time to heal. She was adopted during COVID times and she is loving her new home!
Betty was adopted by an amazing family. Here is an update from her new family:
Betty made herself right at home with me, and we're learning about each other every day. She's a sweet loving little girl, shy but happy. She and my cats are getting used to each other slowly; she's very polite with them, and I know they'll all get along fine. Betty is challenging me to learn how to direct and reward her since she doesn't see or hear well. I want to bring her out and give her some more confidence if I can.
I started looking for a dog early this year, and the search turned out to be a lot harder than I expected. I was looking for a spaniel, especially a springer, but they don't seem to be very common and those who love them snap up available dogs fast. I'm 60 years old and have a small house and three cats. One of my granddaughters has autism and is terrified of dogs, so I needed a polite dog that even LOOKED friendly. I feel very lucky to have found Betty! I was really impressed with Auburn Valley Humane Society. It looked like a busy morning, but everyone I met was calm and welcoming. I'm a big supporter of the humane society. You all do a big and sometimes heart-breaking job. Thank you!
