Bones’ Story
It all started when…
Bones arrived at the shelter one morning. We don’t know a lot about him or his story. Someone was trying their best to care for Bones. The person was homeless and couldn’t continue to care for Bones. Bones was four-years-old as a Pit Bull Mix with a broken leg left in a crate at the AVHS back door on a early morning. He was trying to get out of the crate when AVHS staff were there to save him.
Medical staff evaluated his condition and reviewed his broken leg. After a few weeks of healing, x-rays showed that Bones’ leg was not healing in the manner the medical staff desired. A orthopedic surgeon consultation resulted in the decision to remove the leg.
Bones went to a foster home while he healed. He comes in weekly for bandage changes and medical check-ups. Bones is adjusting well with three legs. He is just a knucklehead and wants to play, run, and have freedom.
He has been altered and ready for adoption. His adoption was sponsored by Mud Bay and he will have a tote of toys, treats, and goodies.
Bones was adopted! Dion wanted to adopt a rescue dog that was an amputee like himself. Bones went to a loving home and has lots of room to run. His new owner plans to take him to dog training and service dog training. Happy to be home!
Bones is now Hank!
Dion is so happy and grateful to have Hank in his life.
His new owner has been working with Hank a lot that he now can sit, lay down, and is potty trained.
Loves car rides.
