Harriet and Dianna

Harriet & Dianna…

Dianna, a 5-year-old female, came to the AVHS animal shelter pregnant, stressed, and in labor. Dianna was about to have pups. It was unknown whether Dianna had had pups before or whether this was her first litter. She was in dire need of medical attention. Dianna was having a difficult time with puppy birth so the AVHS veterinary staff decided to switch gears and performed an emergency c-section. Only Harriet survived; Dianna had lost the other pups. This was a time-consuming operation for Dianna as the veterinary staff was trying to save and revive her puppies. They didn't give up on Dianna and continued through the challenging afternoon.

After the operation, Dianna ate a little and became distressed when introduced to the new pup. The awesome veterinary staff coaxed Dianna through the feeding process for the single pup, Harriet. The mom and pup went to a foster family to recuperate and heal. Both survived and made lots of progress. Thankfully, due to donors like YOU, AVHS had the necessary staff, equipment, and tools necessary to monitor and perform the lifesaving operation.

After eight weeks, both Harriet and Dianna had become energetic, very friendly, and loving animals. Both were adopted by two separate families. We need YOUR Support now to continue to save animals like Dianna and Harriet.
