Nana Banana’s Story

Nana Banana was adopted on March 13, 2020 by a family who spent lots of time meeting her individually, learning her behaviors, and loving her.

Nana has been Great!

She fits right in. She has done so well that we are so surprised on her behavior. accomplishments. We took things slow, but Nana wanted things to move faster. When we brought her home she started in the Crate.

By day three she was out more and watching TV with us on the couch. She is now best friends with my husband and loves everyone with wet mopey kisses.

Our dog Tilly has done great with her, she has been so patient and teaching Nana a lot. Tilly still doesn't want to get to close but she is doing so much better with letting Nana get close to her. Tilly and Nana don't growl or bark they just wag their tails and go from there. And now we just let her roam and let the leash drag.

We been walking them around the school near our home. Nana listens to the commands and she is really understanding us when we talk with her. She still pulls until she realizes we are all together then she relaxes and lets Tilly walk next to her easier.

Thanks again, we love her so much and I knew she would be great for us.

It all started when Nana Banana arrived at the AVHS shelter from Texas in October 2018. She was transferred from one of our partners, Three Little Pitties.

She was adopted several times and returned to the shelter. You needed to take is slow with her introduction to people. She had a wonderful foster who worked with her for hours, days and weeks. The key was to take things slow. Having another dog in the family and small animals would take time.

She would growl at new people initially. She was slow to bond but over time, she bonded and you were forever imprinted on her mind. She was a complete love bug with sloppery kisses. She needed a home that would understand and be committed to showing her the world was not as scary as it seems.

She did get along with other dogs and a dog-savvy cat. She is an active dog that loves walk and needs daily exercise.
