PRINCESS PEANUT’S STORY

Princess Peanut, named so elegantly by her foster, came to the AVHS Animal Shelter. She was heavily matted and in need of urgent medical attention. Due to her mats, we couldn’t see her face, her eyes or even her ears!

Under anesthesia, it took two veterinary support staff and a veterinarian to shave the mats off her body. During that time, it was found that she had severe dental disease with many infected and painful teeth. We extracted 13 teeth!

On recovery, Princess Peanut felt a million dollars! She scarfed down her canned dog food and very quickly requested a sweater with her new streamlined look.

If that wasn’t enough, she also only had 3 legs!

Her foster says that she is a pleasure to be around. She demands everyone’s attention as if to say, “Look at the new me!”

Princess Peanut was adopted.

Princess Peanut was one of the lucky ones to arrive at Auburn Valley Humane Society. She was able to get the care that she so desperately needed, but there are so many others like her. This extraordinary care was made possible by donors like you. Your support for GiveBIG is critical to helping animals like Princess Peanut take the steps to a second chance.

AVHS offers programs and resources to support animals and people in our community, including low-cost preventative care, spay and neuter surgeries, and training for your pet.
